This is Wei Wuxian:
He's a teen prodigy who's good at magic, swordplay, archery, all the good stuff. Unfortunately, some asshole with some magic stones (not a euphemism) decided to take his clan and conquer all the other clans. Wei Wuxian's clan was slaughtered and he himself was tortured and dropped on a pile of bones in a place so haunted that a society full of ghost hunters said "fuck that shit" and walled it off.
Nobody expected him to survive. But Wei Wuxian is a resourceful guy, and when life gives you dead people, you make necromancy.
So yeah! He learned some new tricks and made a magic stone of his own. And that worked out, for a while. Except necromancy kind of fucks with your body and your mind, and when Wei Wuxian found out that one of the other clans was committing human rights abuses, he took action. It... was not the most diplomatic way to handle things. There's a lot of discussion in the fandom of how he and the other characters could have handled things better. Anyway. He was exiled and took the people he'd rescued (and one he'd had to raise from the dead) to find a home. And it wasn't bad, for a while.
But when you have a scary power and have pissed off, like, everyone, you don't get to be left alone. Things got bad, and then got worse.
And then he died and went to Fandom. He doesn't have his magic stone (Stygian Tiger Amulet) so his power is significantly reduced, but he can still handle himself.
My Wei Wuxian doesn't know this, but he'll be brought back to life 16 years later. He'll solve some mysteries and be part of some other peoples' stories, and his friendship with Lan Zhan will become, ah... Well, in the book they end up married. In the show, they can't legally show same-sex relationships. But they do the best they can.
Me: Airawyn, often known as Emily, sometimes known as Logan, very rarely known as Logan Who Used To Be A Bunny. Was here at the start, left for a while, recently returned. I had a few short stints with other character, but my longest running characters were Logan Echolls and Tony Foster.
I'm on Pacific time. Not great at playing during work hours, though I can jump on a little if things aren't too hectic. If I drop a thread and you want to continue, please let me know! I'm happy to pick things back up.
I work from home (for now), have two attentive cats, and other than my friends and family, I miss Disneyland the most. Or maybe the gym. I can't believe I would ever put those things against each other like that, but it's been a weird fucking year.
